Shop Assistant

About Us: Aqua House specialises in premium aquarium supplies, offering a diverse range of products for fishkeepers and aquascapers alike. Our physical store in Christchurch provides a unique experience for hobbyists, delivering expertise and high-quality products.

Location: Christchurch, New Zealand
Employment Type: Part-Time/Full-Time


Key Responsibilities:

+ Welcome and assist customers in selecting products, offering knowledgeable advice on aquarium setup, fishkeeping, and plant care.
+ Maintain and care for in-store aquarium tanks, including fish feeding, plant care, and tank cleaning, to ensure they are vibrant and healthy for display and sale.
+ Maintain a clean and organised store environment, including product displays, shelving, and stockrooms.
+ Handle transactions accurately and professionally using our point-of-sale system.
+ Assist with stocking shelves, product pricing, and inventory management.
+ Keep up-to-date with product knowledge, including new arrivals, promotions, and loyalty programme details.
+ Answer customer queries in-store, over the phone, and via email in a friendly and helpful manner.
+ Contribute to our social media presence by creating engaging content and participating in campaigns to promote Aqua House and connect with our community.


Key Requirements:

+ Passion for aquariums, aquascaping, and general fishkeeping knowledge.
+ Ability to maintain aquariums, including familiarity with fish and plant care.
+ Computer and social media literacy to assist with our online presence.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills to deliver outstanding customer service.
+ Reliable and punctual with a professional attitude.
+ Previous retail experience and knowledge of aquarium products is an advantage.
