Green Blue-Tip Octospawn Coral
Euphyllia yaeyamaensis
(Fimbriaphyllia yaeyamaensis)
Green Blue-Tip Octospawn Coral is a distinctive colour form of Fimbriaphyllia yaeyamaensis, combining rich green tissue with contrasting soft blue to violet tips across its densely divided tentacles. The cooler tip colour adds definition to each polyp and gives the colony a crisp two-tone appearance under reef lighting. The species remains widely known in the aquarium trade by its former name, Euphyllia yaeyamaensis.
Its compact tentacles divide into numerous rounded tips, creating the characteristic full, textured appearance that distinguishes Octospawn from the more elongated forms of Torch and Frogspawn corals. Under reef lighting, the green tones become more pronounced while the movement of the polyps adds texture and depth to the aquarium.
As the colony matures, new heads develop on branching skeletal growth, gradually forming a fuller and increasingly impressive colony.
