NATURAL SHELTER

Naturally hollow, weathered and full of character, HAVEN Hollow Wood combines authentic driftwood form with caves, tunnels and sheltered spaces for aquarium and terrarium inhabitants.

Description

Compact but full of character, HAVEN Hollow Wood XXS pieces measure approximately 20–35 cm long and 5–12 cm wide. Each piece features its own natural mix of hollows, tunnels, openings and weathered textures, making this size ideal for smaller aquariums, nano layouts, pleco hides, cave areas and detailed hardscape accents. Colours and forms vary significantly from piece to piece, from pale weathered timber to deeper brown tones.

What Makes HAVEN Distinctive

HAVEN Hollow Wood celebrates the natural beauty and character of hollow timber. Each piece is selected for its distinctive form, featuring natural cavities, tunnels, open channels or partially hollow trunks. From pale, weathered tones to deeper earthy browns, every piece brings its own texture, structure and individuality.

More than a decorative element, HAVEN combines natural aesthetics with practical function. Its hollow formations can create sheltered spaces, shaded retreats and interesting passageways, adding depth and character to freshwater aquascapes.

Natural Shelter & Aquascaping

HAVEN is particularly appealing for aquariums housing plecos, catfish and other species that appreciate sheltered areas. The natural surfaces also provide opportunities for grazing and rasping behaviour in wood-associated species such as Panaque and Panaqolus.

Depending on the dimensions and shape of the cavity, certain pieces may be suitable as caves or potential spawning shelters for appropriate species. Always consider the individual fish's size and requirements when selecting a piece.

Beyond aquariums, HAVEN can be incorporated into paludariums, terrariums and other naturalistic displays, creating distinctive features and places for animals to explore or seek cover.

WYSIWYG Selection

What You See Is What You Get.

Every HAVEN Hollow Wood piece is individually photographed and identified by its unique WYSIWYG number. Whether choosing a specific variant within a size category or purchasing an individually listed statement piece, you will receive the exact piece selected.

Natural variations in shape, colour, texture and hollow structure are part of each piece's individual character. Please check the photographs and measurements to choose the most suitable wood for your intended layout.

Before Use

Rinse the wood thoroughly with clean water and gently brush away any loose material before introducing it into your aquarium. Do not use soaps or chemical cleaning products.

As with natural aquarium wood, some pieces may initially float and require soaking or secure positioning until waterlogged. Natural tannins may temporarily tint the water amber or brown. A soft, pale biofilm may also appear during the initial period of submersion; this is generally harmless and can be gently removed if desired.

Boiling is not recommended, as prolonged exposure to high temperatures can cause natural wood to crack, soften or deteriorate.

When using hollow pieces as fish shelters, ensure the openings are appropriately sized and that the wood is positioned securely.
